Gay pride on the canals in the sexual capital of europe
By Ernie Alderete

Long before San Francisco was even founded there was a place renowned for religious, political and sexual freedom, Amsterdam. There is probably no more tolerant city in the world. Probably the most moving must-see site in Amsterdam is the canal-side 'Homomonument,' the world’s first memorial to the gays and lesbians who were exterminated in Nazi concentration camps during World War II.

Can you say “tulips” without smiling? I can’t. It always reminds me of “two lips.” Visit Amsterdam during the annual Queen’s Day celebration and you’re likely to get plenty of both! Welcome to Holland, by far The Most Tolerant Place of Earth. And if you like tall, thin women with fair skin and blue eyes, you will be in Heaven. I was. We had a standing joke about it…we were falling in love “Every 30 feet.”

The list of places "every gay person should see at least once before dying" is open to some debate. South Beach? Many (myself included) much prefer Ft. Lauderdale, up the road. Fire Island? Some find it nothing more than a gay ghetto surrounded by sand. San Francisco - well, everybody probably can agree on that one.

Featured Travel Articles Summer Blooms in Holland
By Duane Wells

The Dutch are known for many things, but none so much as their precious blooms…particularly tulips.Today, wars aren’t waged over Holland’s tulips nor are they as precious as they once were during the 17th century when they inspired greed and envy of epic proportions, but they are still a beautiful distraction that attracts countless visitors to Holland each year.

Featured Travel Articles Amsterdam: The World's Gayest City
By John David Wilson III

While just about every locale can boast it is unique in some way or other, nowhere can compare to Amsterdam for throwing out the welcome mat to gays and lesbians. This ancient city, which goes back to the 1st century BC, has built a reputation on liberal attitudes, warm hearts, and moderate prices. Amsterdam Pride, held each year in August, is an experience I can only describe as going to the mother church of gayness.

Featured Travel Articles Cruising The North Sea
By Jerry Lee

Chaucer's pilgrims set out from London in the Middle Ages to "wend their way to Canterbury." We took air-conditioned buses, but only as far as Tilbury, England, where we boarded the Odysseus for our North Sea cruise. It seemed as if our voyage was built on European history, which ended up not being far from the truth.
